Chapter (16): Geostatistics to Map Rock Mass Parameters

CHAPTER DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the chapter is to present results on the use of Geostatistics to map rock mass parameters. The geological and geomechanical are extremely important to allow a suitable comprehension of rock mechanics on mining activities. Its relevance ranges from the possibility of better comprehending the mechanical behavior of different materials that occurs within the rock mass up to the understanding of the behavior of such rock masses under mechanical loads. The great majority of geological-geomechanical modeling currently in use are two-dimensional, which sometimes difficult the visualization and more precise comprehension of the spatial relation between rock mass and civil and mining engineering. In this chapter, the application of advanced analytics and Geostatistics will be explained in detail to map rock mass parameters.
